Military divorce rate seems to be falling for women

2981029_S.jpgThe military can make married life hard for all members of a family, especially if the service member is deployed. Divorce can seem like a constant threat to couples who have to endure the hardships of military life. In fact, the divorce rate amongst female military members reached an all-time high a few years ago. However, according to statistics, the threat may be lessening, as the divorce rate has been in decline since 2011.

Social media clauses gaining popularity in prenuptial agreements

12253074_S.jpgPrenuptial agreements have long been a hotly contested area of family law. Many claim that they are simply a necessary precaution that couples can use to protect their separate property in the event of a divorce, while others claim that it shows a lack of trust and suggests that one or both parties believe the marriage might fail. Regardless of which side of the platform you stand on, a product of the digital age is making its way into prenuptial agreements, and it just might cause you to take a second look.

Property disputes can and should be handled legally

6860409_S.jpgWhen married couples divorce, it is an understood concept that the courts will divide their assets in the divorce settlement, granting different assets to each party for various reasons. Usually, this is not an issue for unmarried couples, who simply pack their belongings and go their separate ways. However, it is becoming increasingly common for unmarried couples to engage in long-term domestic partnerships in which it can become difficult to determine just whose property is whose. Fortunately, there are legal options for dividing property that couples should consider taking advantage of, lest somebody take matters into their own hands in an extreme way.
