Should I get a prenuptial agreement?

32565788_S.jpgPrenuptial agreements have long been a source of contention when it comes to marriage. There really is no getting around the fact that you are essentially putting a contingency plan in place for divorce, and the possibility of divorce is the last thing you are likely considering when getting married. Some parties instantly become suspicious if their fiancée requests a prenuptial agreement, but the truth is that prenuptial agreements offer many benefits. It is up to couples to determine if they should get a prenuptial agreement.

Congressman hopes to assist domestic violence shelters

25405972_S.jpgDomestic violence continues to be a large issue that too many people suffer from throughout the country. The state of Missouri takes domestic violence very seriously, and even though our state has taken great strides to help victims of domestic violence, there is always more that can be done. In fact, it sometimes seems that as hard as we fight to help domestic violence, there continues to be an increase in domestic violence issues.

Houston case highlights potential property dispute issues

39053224_S.jpgAn interesting property dispute has developed recently in Houston, wherein two people seem to have valid claims of ownership to the same house. According to the report, a man who grew up in the house has a deed to the house and claims that it is his, but a woman who also has the deed claims that she owns it, and for the past few months, she has resided in the house. This is because one of the man's sisters signed the house over to the woman.

Understanding the benefits of legal separation

11066284_S.jpgThere is a bit of a social stigma surrounding divorce, wherein couples may feel that staying in an unhappy relationship is preferable to admitting that their marriage has failed. But despite what society may tell you, there is truly nothing wrong with recognizing that a once happy, healthy relationship has become a strenuous lifestyle. Things change throughout the course of a marriage, and things like loss of job or addition of children can completely alter your lifestyle and change the dynamic of your marriage. There is no shame in leaving a marriage that is not making you happy.
